As with every client we design wedding stationery for, the lead up to the wedding is always met with great anticipation—not only by the wedding party, but by us too. There is printing to be done, last minute changes to guest lists and seating plans, double checking that every guest has a placecard, and finally making sure all the reception stationery gets to the venue in one perfectly intact package on time. From having first completed invitations six months earlier, it is always so exciting to see how everything comes together on the wedding day!

So when Sylvia and Thomas sent us photos of their wedding day we were mesmerised! Perhaps it was the floral centrepieces by The Wedding Shed hanging from the marquee ceiling oh-so beautifully, or perhaps was something to do with the gorgeous Bride looking absolutely stunning in her bridal gown and headpiece by our lovely friends at MXM Couture… those stunning creations really did capture our attention.

Only a few short months earlier we were delighted to have had Sylvia walk through our studio doors and commission us to design beautiful custom letterpress wedding stationery. What appealed to the Bride was our monogram which forms a part of the Yesterday Creative brand, so we set about to design an adaptation of our own logo to be featured on Sylvia and Thomas’ wedding invitation. This monogram with custom designed S & T typography for their initials formed a brand for their own wedding and flowed from the invitation to matching letterpress reply cards, information cards, laser cut swing tags and the back of the matching letterpress envelopes, right through to reception stationery and styling on the day. With a classic font for event details set in a slightly more modern typographic layout, the invitation was letterpressed in metallic copper ink into beautiful 600gsm Gmund cotton. The invitation design was brought to life on print day before the client’s own eyes as the Bride came to see the first impressions of her invitation being printed in the studio on our 1960s Heidelberg Platen—this is where, all of a sudden, the wedding starts to feel quite real!

Liaising with the team at Byron Bay Weddings for Sylvia and Thomas’ dinner celebration, custom reception stationery was designed to bring in the monogram and classic charm from the wedding invitations to each table setting. A beautiful seating chart was completed along with laser cut circular table numbers featuring the couple’s monogram and set in a brass place card holder to help guests find their way. Each placesetting was finished with a menu and placecards tied together with twine positioned neatly inside the fold of a linen napkin—the bronze ink of the printing complimenting the rattan charger plate and gold cutlery supplied by The Wedding Shed.

High on a hill and overlooking the beautiful Byron Bay and surrounding Hinterland, Sylvia and Thomas celebrated their wedding at The Grove in Coopers Shoot. This property was the perfect setting to celebrate with their family and friends as they enjoyed gorgeous late Spring weather during an outdoor ceremony, followed by a stunningly decorated marquee reception for 160 guests. We were delighted to have had the opportunity to work with such wonderful clients and suppliers, and needless to say, everything about the day looked stunning!

Congratulations Sylvia and Thomas!
